Firefighters kept busy with two car fires overnight

FIRE brigades at Casino and Byron Bay were kept busy overnight attending two car fires.

Casino Brigade was called at 6.12pm to a mechanics workshop in North St, Casino, following reports of a building fire.

When fire fighters arrived they found one car alight in the workshop and flames had spread to a nearby vehicle.

One car was totally destroyed and one car was damaged in the blaze, which was extinguished just before 7pm.

Then at 1.37am Byron Bay brigade responded to reports of a Kombi van alight in the Belongil Beach carpark.

Fire fighters arrived to find the van and nearby bush alight.

The fire was extinguished by 2.25am and nobody was injured in either incident.
