Firebirds, Swifts all set for a grand final rematch

EASY wins by the Queensland Firebirds and New South Wales Swifts have set the scene for a rematch of last year's epic grand final in Sydney on Sunday.

The Firebirds made it 21 straight with a 62-51 triumph over the winless Adelaide Thunderbirds in Brisbane, while the Swifts overcame a slow start to beat the Tactix 73-52 in Christchurch.

Jamaican star Romelda Aiken (pictured) was again outstanding for the Firebirds, finishing with 45 goals from 50 attempts.

Goal defence Clare McMeniman was named MVP with seven centre-pass receives and two intercepts.

Thunderbirds shooter Carla Borrego scored 33 goals from 36 shots.

For the Swifts, Caitlin Thwaites shot 32 from 35 attempts, Stephanie Wood adding 32 from her 40 shots.

In other round eight results, the Vixens beat the Fever 54-53 and the Magic overcame the Mystics 49-45.
