Watch and act alert issued for Tabulam fire, then withdrawn

THE RURAL Fire Service were issued a "watch and act" alert for a bushfire South West of Tabulam on Saturday afternoon.

The fire was burning in inaccessible country near Ogilvie Dr.

The RFS advised there was no direct threat to several remote rural properties in the area that had been notified about the blaze.

A RFS spokesman said the RFS called in a water bombing aircraft which flew from Tamworth to put out the fire.

The Rural Fire Service currently has the Northern Rivers listed as having a "high" fire danger - the second lowest on the scale. There is no fire ban listed for the region today.
