Fire destroys Evans Head home

A TWO storey house at Evans Head was destroyed by fire overnight.

A NSW Fire and Rescue Spokesman said brigades from Evans Head and Coraki were called to the home on Wirraway Ave just after 2am.

When they arrived they found the two storey home well alight.

The Woodburn Rural Fire Service Brigade and a Hazmat unit from Goonellabah were called as the blaze threatened nearby properties.

Police, paramedics and an Essential Energy crew were also called to the scene.

The NSW Fire and Rescue spokesman said the top floor of the home collapsed as fire fighters battled the blaze for two hours.

No one was injured in the blaze and everyone from the home was accounted for.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
