Fire destroys Byron Bay nightclub, forces road closure

BYRON Bay night club La La Land was destroyed by a fire overnight.

A Fire and Rescue NSW spokesman this morning said about 20 people fled the burning building just after 9.30pm.

There were no injuries from the fire, but it caused extensive damage to the night club.

"The building has 25% water damage and about 80% contents damage," he said.

"An extensive salvage operation is continuing."

Four fire crews turned up to battle the fire and some remained at the night club this morning, which was understood to still be smoking from the fire.

It is understood Lawson St was only reopened this morning.
