Fiona Gray's first Photo of the Day wins in tight vote

FIONA Gray's first contribution to Photo of the Day has made quite a splash, managing to edge out spectacular pictures from Russell Riordan and Roseanne Birmingham in some exceptionally tight voting in yesterday's poll.

The three photographers each picked up close to a third of the total votes, with Fiona's sunrise image taking 33%, while Roseanne got 31% of the vote and Russell 29%.

The remaining 4% of the vote went to pictures contributed by Terry Stormon and Jeanette Flanagan, both of which, despite their low comparative votes, were beautiful images.

Jeanette was another first time contributor and also shared Photo of the Day's first Bonalbo image. Terry gets extra points for his image of a serene Tucki Creek because, before taking his photo, he went in to pull out some paint buckets a thoughtless person had dumped there.

Photo of the Day is intended to highlight the beauty of the Northern River and the talent of the region's photographers. Apart from appearing here, it is published on Page 2 of our print edition and and forms part of an expanding gallery on The Northern Star website, which you can see below.
