Beauty finalists face off
A BEVY of Tweed Heads beauties have made the cut and are in the running to be the Face of Gold Coast Fashion Week.
Billie Edwards, Jocelyn Savage, Monique Bathic, Jessica Marshall and Tahnee Pinches all call the region home and have used their looks to secure a spot in the final stages of the competition.
More than 60 beauties from as far away as Sydney put their names forward to be the face of the Coast's most prestigious fashion event, but only 20 women made the cut.
Gold Coast Fashion Week coordinator Michaela Fitzgerald said the crown would go to the girl who embodies a healthy look and represents the style and sophistication of the Gold Coast.
"We want to find somebody with a fresh, natural image who has a look that alludes to high fashion," she said.
Cabarita Beach model Billie Edwards said she was excited to be named among the finalists and was looking forward to the challenge.
"I've been modelling for a few years now, but I was really excited to be chosen. It's a great opportunity," she said
The 18-year-old model said it was great to see so many Tweed women holding their own in the fiercely competitive world of modelling.
"We have all been getting along really well and it's nice to have a lot of friendly faces in the competition," Ms Edwards said.
"I am a bit nervous about the final. Although it should be a fun night we have to walk across a catwalk over the pool.
"But we've done it before and we are all looking forward to it."
The finalists will have the chance to strut their stuff at the final at Komune on Saturday, November 19, and win the right to be the face of fashion week.
Five guest judges, from the fashion, beauty and design fields, will select the aspiring model to lead the runway at the Gold Coast Fashion Week opening catwalk parade in February.
