Final race meeting heats up at the Lismore Kart Club

LISMORE kart club has wrapped up for the year with a jolly visit from Santa and a scorching day of fast and furious racing.

There was a field of 12 cadet seven to nine years present at the Lismore circuit meeting.

Jakob Scott took first place from Jaiden Santin with Beau Bromhead in third. There was one cadet 12 driver on the day being Nathaniel Watts and he was awarded first in his class.

The field for the Junior K4 class was also down but still showed their competitiveness with light class racer Sam Seccombe taking the win from Elliott Thompson second and Jack Porter third.

Willliam Seccombe was first in the heavy section.

Once again the senior K4 light class was down to three drivers but didn't disappoint.

Matthew Neil won against brothers Dmitri Nommensen second and Curt third.

The Sportsman light class with a field of eight saw some great racing with very little separating the top three drivers. The winner was Michael Slade first from Kaleb Mustow-Veal second and Jake Wheeler third.

The Sportsman heavy class produced a field of nine drivers with the eventual winner being Logan Campbell first from Elwyn Garrard secon and Clinton Hickling third.

The 2016 overall winners were:

Cadet champion - Jakob Scott

Junior champion - Jack Porter

Senior champion - Luke Garrard

The club also ran two feature races in honour of past members. The results were:

Andrew Thompson Memorial - 1st Sam Seccombe, 2nd Elliott Thompson, 3rd William Seccombe.

Digger Leeson Shield - Cadet driver 1st Jaiden Santin , 2nd Kayden Thompson, 3rd Beau Bromhead. Senior driver 1st Michael Slade, 2nd Kaleb Mustow-Veal and 3rd Mark Frost.

At the end of racing the club had a Christmas lunch where Santa made a surprise visit to give the kids lollies.
