A LARGE fig tree has fallen across the road at Keen Street, Lismore, taking down power lines and cutting electricity to two homes in the street.

A spokeswoman for Essential Energy said contractors had already made the site safe by turning off power to the affected lines and were now cutting up the tree.

Once the tree had been removed Lismore City Council workers would clean up the site.

The spokeswoman said it was expected power would be restored to the two homes by noon.
