Fatal truck crash at Lismore
BOTH lanes of the Bruxner Highway near the Coraki turn-off will be closed until about 10am tomorrow morning after a fatal truck roll-over.
The truck driver's death took the long weekend road toll up to five.
About 9.50pm police and emergency services were called to reports of a truck crash on the Bruxner Highway about 7kms south of Lismore.
Upon arrival a prime mover was located overturned. The male driver of the truck died at the scene.
Inquiries into the cause of the crash are continuing however it appears that the truck was travelling south bound along the Highway when it failed to negotiate a bend and rolled over.
As a result of the crash a number of fuel tanks were ruptured. Hazmat attended the scene to clean up the fuel.
Road diversions are in place. Traffic is being diverted via Springrove Road and Caniaba Road. Diversions for heavy vehicles is via the Casino to Coraki Road and then down to Woodburn and onto the Pacific Highway.
Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
