Fatal house fire at Bilambil

POLICE are continuing their investigations into a fatal house fire which occurred on the Far North Coast on Friday.
 
About 6.30am, emergency services were called to a rural property in Urliup Road, Bilambil where a house and adjoining caravan were located on fire.  
 
NSW Rural Fire Service officers were unable to extinguish the blaze and both the house and caravan were completely destroyed.
 
During an examination of the scene by forensic police the remains of a human body were located.  A post mortem examination was carried out today in Newcastle.
 
Detectives have interviewed a number of witnesses and inquiries are continuing. Initial inquiries indicate the fire was deliberately lit.
