Fast net crucial

TO put it simply, Katrina Elliott's photography business won't survive without the NBN.

Relying heavily on her phone and a high-speed internet connection to run the business and her online art store Devine Art Online, the Gladstone local is urging the Federal Government to hurry up.

"I can't run my business efficiently as I'd like to without NBN," Ms Elliott said.

"The time it takes clients to log on to view and order high-resolution images is time consuming."

For the past eight years Ms Elliott has enjoyed a relatively fast ADSL broadband connection, but wouldn't complain if her home business was hooked up to NBN.

Ms Elliott also said time played a crucial factor in the success of her business.

"The most time consuming thing about a slow internet connection is waiting for your emails to load," she said. "If I have a faster speed, then I could upload larger images faster and then customers will be able to view more images to purchase."

As for Gladstone's prospects in receiving the NBN, Ms Elliott said the town deserved a high-speed connection.

"Because of the growth and influx of people, Gladstone needs NBN."
