Fashion guru to give style tips ahead of Ballina Cup
LOCAL women wanting to look their finest for the Ballina Cup can get some expert tips, and help women in crisis at the same time.
Candy Fitness, from Candy Lane fashions in Alstonville, has arranged for style guru Anna Mott, from Melbourne, to speak at the Real Housewives of Northern Rivers Cocktail Party at Lilly's Garden Restaurant in the Ballina Island Motor Inn on September 12.
It's on the eve of the Ballina Cup, and proceeds will be donated to the Ballina women's refuge, Hope Haven.
Ms Mott manages Racing Fashion Australia and Racing Fashion TV and has this year held a fashion session at Royal Ascot in England.
She was at the Grafton races this year, which is where she met Candy Fitness, who invited her to come to Ballina.
"It's a real coup to get her here," Candy said.
"She will be giving style tips and talking about fashions from around the world."
The cocktail party is on the same night as the annual calcutta.
Ms Fitness said "while the men go to the calcutta, this was a nice opportunity for ladies to get out and have a nice night too". Ms Mott also will be attending the Ballina Cup on September 13, and will wander around giving ribbons to those she thinks have dressed well.
Candy said the idea behind that was to get more people involved in the Fashions on the Field competition, which Ms Mott will judge.
There will be great prizes in that competition, courtesy of the likes of Ballina Cruise and Travel, the Slipway Hotel, Candy Lane, Wallace and Co, Julie Casey Millinery and Smooth Hair and Beauty.
