Far North Coast teams mix it with the best

FOUR Far North Coast teams represented the region at the Australian Oztag Championships in Coffs Harbour.

The surprise package for tournament organisers were the C and M Garage Doors Open Mixed Barracudas.

They only lost one pool to the eventual winner Greater West Vipers.

The team represented proudly with ball players Daisy Gordon and Mina Vanarey stepping up to the plate when team captain Hayley McAnelly was unavailable in the final two games on Saturday.

The team's youngest player Jada Williams tagged well and dug deep when thrown into the middle.

Veteran players Ben Daly, Shayne Smith and Aaron Campbell kept the team calm under pressure and plenty of flair was demonstrated by the other men in the team.

There was plenty of talent on display with the likes of Mitchell Krause, David Jacky and Josh Toole competing.

The Over 55's Men's team came away with one win and three losses while the Over 30s team starting strong with a 9-4 win over the Mid North Coast.

However, they then struggled for the remainder of the tournament.

The Over 50's Men's team had a strong tournament qualifying fourth for the semi-finals where they played a strong game but came away unsuccessful.

The Lismore Oztag season is underway with games played Tuesday nights.
