Fancy a beer and swim with the crocs?

A CAIRNS publican wants to let visitors swim with crocodiles at a new tourist attraction adjoining his hotel.

Tradies Bar owner Graham Johnston has applied to Cairns Regional Council for approval to build Croc HQ, a 2088 sqm project that adds a whole new dimension to his Grove St pub.

The project would include four crocodile enclosures with a separate tank for juvenile reptiles and six cylindrical glass "swimming enclosures".

Daredevil visitors will strip down to their bathers and submerge themselves in the pods while staring down snouts of the territorial predators.

It is understood the plan has been in development for two years and construction could be a year away as owners negotiate approvals. It will be more than a simple aquarium.
