Families making the most of holiday time

WITH only a week to go of the school holidays, many parents will be counting down the days, while their kids try to make the most of not being at school.

In the first week of the holidays, Northern Rivers students enjoyed mostly fine weather, with some late showers and storms not spoiling too much of their fun.

After staying around the Northern Rivers for the first week, Goonellabah's Tyler Bolt said he couldn't wait to travel to Queensland this week.

"I am looking forward to going to Brisbane this week and going to Movie World," he said.

Goonellabah's Angela Sharpe is hoping this week of the holidays is better than last week.

"I was sick last week but this week I'm looking forward to going to the movies with my friends and shopping," Angela said.

Both kids were divided on whether they were looking forward to going back to school, with Angela quickly saying yes, but Tyler replying no.

For parents worried about the weather for the holiday's second leg, the Bureau of Meteorology is expecting mostly sunny days until Wednesday, with showers anticipated for the second half of the week.
