Coffee lovers sing a-Cappello's praises on Facebook

THERE may be many hundreds of cafes and restaurants across the Northern Rivers, but among the folk on The Northern Star's Facebook page there is a clear favourite - Cafe Cappello.

We asked readers on our Facebook page to nominate their favourite cafe and/or restaurant on the Northern Rivers and Cafe Cappello at Carrington Street was the clear favourite, picking up well over 200 likes.

"You alway feel welcome, the staff are so friendly and they never rush you to leave even if you have been sitting there for two hrs having a massive catch up," said Jessica Kate Miller.

Cafe Cappello Barista Jesse Matthews-Cooke hopped on to give his workplace a plug, noting the talent of the cafes "singing barista" - even if he does say so himself...

Other high scorers in the Facebook poll were the Loft at Lismore, which sits just over the road from Cappello in Lismore, and Flock Cafe at Woodlark Street.

Moya Costello sang the praises of the Loft's chef Grant Gordon, pointing out he earned his first executive chef posting at only 21 at the Museum of Sydney Cafe.

"His flair for inventive ingredient combinations has been honed and tested in the challenging Sydney market," she said.

Elise Moore also spoke lovingly of the Loft's food.

"The scallops I ate were better than the scallops at Tetsuya's, and the 16 hour slow cooked beef was amazing," she said.

"Also loved the seasonal menu with beautifully balanced dishes incorporating fresh herbs.

"I would fly in from out of town especially to eat here. Also, the service was flawless."

Flock Espresso was praised for its coffee and its vegetarian dining options.

Gemma Lowe summed up the thoughts of Flock fans in the simplest of terms.

"Flock = deliciousness," she said.
