AFTER going through her own painful divorce, Sally Beerworth picked herself up, dusted herself off and started writing an ebook, Updating Under the Influence, to help others going through similar circumstances.

The ebook was a series of Facebook status updates - a chronicle of her emotional rollercoaster that she wanted to share.

Her book went to No.3 on Amazon's best-sellers and she began to get requests for merchandise such as T-shirts with her quotable quotes, to which she happily obliged.

"My work went viral online almost immediately and we were taking orders from Wagga Wagga to Waterloo," she said.

Most of her merchandise is written with her girlfriends in mind and the misadventures that all women can find themselves in from time to time in the dating and relationships game.

"Much of my stuff is written about the silly things that we (and all women) often do," London-based Sally said.

But she is just happy to be able to help people and give them something to smile about again after a relationship breakdown.

"I really think people just like my stuff, and I like that I get to use some money to help others," she said.

While she was writing her ebook, Sally opened her office for The Joy of Ex Foundation in London.

While the main purpose of the foundation is to help people with practical advice and support, it also provides financial assistance to access counsellors and lawyers if needed.

"It cost me an appalling amount of money to get divorced, so I had always wanted to find a way to help other people in the same situation, which is always sad, regardless of what it costs," she said.

Now Sally has branched out Down Under.

"I have lived in London for seven years so it started where I was living," she said.

"We have an office in Sydney now and one day soon I will be running it from Australia - much to my Mum's delight."

Sally's slogans and sense of humour seem to be in tune with Aussies, with Australia being the second-biggest market for her products outside the UK.

"I guess even though I live in London, I am an Aussie with an Aussie sense of humour and always will be," she said.
