Evans River school fields huge kindy class
THERE must have been something in the water in Evans Head nearly six years ago.
The new 2013 kindergarten class is the largest that Evans River K-12 school has welcomed since its opening 13 years ago.
Whatever the reason for the explosion of little people in the school, deputy principal Yvonne Sharpe said the enrolment of 34 would require formation of two classes.
"With new families moving in from overseas and interstate, our numbers this year have grown to the point of establishing a seventh class in the K-6 area," she said.
"Our kinder teachers, Mr Fields and Ms Durheim, have been very impressed with how well the children have settled into school life and routines.
"They are a credit to their families and how well they have prepared them for this next stage in their lives."
While the kindergarten class has been split in two, this has not affected the excitement of the children beginning their adventure into learning.
"I like playing with the toys," Will Weekes said when asked what he liked about school.
Tawny Thomson liked the fact that she was learning about frogs, and Byron Gallagher said even though he was at school he was still a ninja.
