Historical Evans Head on Facebook page

RESIDENTS from Evans Head have been tripping down memory lane thanks to a collection of old photos left to local man Steve Cselka.

As administrator of the Evans Head Notice Board Facebook page, Mr Cselka has been sharing photos that he copied from old friends who have since passed on.

"I just remember thinking one night I'd start putting them up for people to see," he said.

"I've got about a thousand photos of people in Evans Head, aerial shots, aeroplanes, on the beach and even those that trained at the aerodrome during the war."

The reaction has been overwhelming to the point where others have also been posting their own photos.

One of the first photos Mr Cselka posted was of the 1948 Anzac Parade heading along Woodburn Street past the old Gollan's Hall where the motel now stands.

"I took a photo at the same spot to be able to compare the difference," he said.

"Everyone reckons it's unreal but I am only working on memory so if someone was there I'm happy for them to add some information."

To see the photos people can visit Evans Head Notice Board on Facebook.
