Emergency services working frantically at truck crash

UPDATE 5.20pm: A Eureka man was lucky to survive when the truck he was driving rolled and smashed into a North Lismore railway underpass this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Alexandra Parade in North Lismore at 3.45pm after reports a truck carrying cattle had rolled.

When they arrived they found the 52-year-old driver was trapped by his legs in the cab.

His load of 17 cows destined for the sales yards tomorrow had escaped.

After more than 30 minutes the man was freed by police rescue with the assistance of paramedics.

The man was taken by ambulance to Lismore Base Hospital in a stable condition with non life-threatening injuries to his lower limbs.

INITIAL REPORT: POLICE and emergency service crews are on the scene of a truck crash at Alexandra Parade in North Lismore.
