Emergency at Ballina airport as plane flips near runway

A LIGHT plane has overturned at Ballina airport this morning.

When emergency services arrived at the scene just after 9.50am they found the single-engine Cessna overturned on grass adjacent to the main runway.

The only occupant of the plane escaped uninjured.

Police, paramedics and NSW Fire and Rescue responded.

Initially it was feared a Jetstar flight due to land at 10.50am would have to be diverted.
