Elliot gets top party backing for CSG ban
RICHMOND MP Justine Elliot and NSW shadow minister for water Walt Secord called for the NSW Government to eradicate CSG exploration and mining.
"I'm putting my support behind the community-based campaign that Justine has been involved with," Mr Secord said.
"Yesterday she took me up to Clarrie Hall Dam, which is the water supply source for 90,000 people. It's (CSG mining) just too risky."
Mrs Elliot also disagreed with Nationals candidate for Richmond Matthew Fraser's claims there was no commercially viable deposits of CSG in the electorate.
"That's just absolute rubbish," she said.
"The fact is Matthew Fraser isn't from here, he doesn't understand the issues, doesn't understand the area.
"Facts are that we do have a current licence over Richmond electorate, that's PEL-445.
"He's insulted and offended a lot of people on the north coast with that claim," she said.
