Eka Darville is Byron Bay’s latest superstar
YOU may know him as Malcolm in hit Netflix series Jessica Jones, as the sexy Diego in the vampire series The Originals, or as Taylor in The Elephant Princess.
He was also Scott Truman, the Red Eagle Ranger in Power Rangers RPM and drummer Hendo in The Sapphires movie, but Australian actor Eka Darville is already well known by Byron Bay locals as a Northern Rivers resident.
Darville, 26, was born in Cairns to a Canadian mother and Jamaican father. The family settled on the Northern Rivers when Eka was a small child. And he's back as one of the stars of Supanova on the Gold Coast.
"Byron Bay and the Northern Rivers will forever be home to me; I grew up there," he said.
His childhood was also spent exploring exotic destinations including the Philippines and a West African village.
Eka starred in his first TV series, Blue Water High, while completing his final year of school at Newtown High in Sydney.
Hit TV show Jessica Jones has given Eka a new level of stardom.
"Marvel can do anything and the fan base will eat it out, but it has to be done well, and Netflix has done this well," he said.
"I knew that it was something bigger, but also Netflix hasn't really produced anything bad, ever, so I was really excited about the quality of the content, but I never imagined it was going to be this big."
