Eddie Obeid suffers stroke

DISGRACED former New South Wales Labor minister Eddie Obeid has been discharged from hospital after suffering a suspected stroke.

The 72-year-old was rushed to St Vincent's Hospital on Thursday night and released home yesterday morning.

The former Labor powerbroker is facing possible jail time after being found guilty in June of misconduct in public office over his family's business dealings with commercial property at Circular Quay in Sydney.

He is still awaiting sentencing.

NSW Premier Mike Baird has suggested Obeid could be stripped of his parliamentary pension over the crime.

Charges have also been laid against Obeid and his son Moses for allegedly rigging a major coal deal in 2008 for which a 2012 ICAC inquiry revealed they received $30 million.
