Easternwell sheds jobs amid 'challenging conditions'
AN oil and gas company in Toowoomba has laid off 27 workers citing challenging conditions in the resource industry.
Easternwell said on Friday that ongoing challenging industry conditions led to the redundancy of 27 permanent office and field-based support.
The company met with employees on Friday to discuss redeployment opportunities within the company to minimise the impact to employees.
A spokesman said Easternwell would continue to support employees, and work closely with its clients to maintain a sustainable workforce.
Easternwell provides drilling, well servicing and remote mobile camp management services.
The company manages more than 60 rigs and 30 remote mobile camps throughout Australia.
Transfield Services, which acquired Easternwell for $575 million in 2010, employs more than 25,000 people across nine countries.
It provides operations, maintenance, construction and facilities management services to the resources, energy, industrial, infrastructure, property and defence sectors.
