Cops detain and search Easter bunny after MP abused

THE Easter Bunny was detained and searched by police following a bizarre incident involving Lismore MP Thomas George yesterday.

Mr George and a friend were having a break from the campaign trail enjoying some lunch at Chicken Mania when they were confronted by a woman wearing an anti-CSG t-shirt and a second woman dressed as the Easter Bunny.

A tirade of abuse followed, primarily about the National Party and CSG.

Police were called and both uniformed and plain clothes officers arrived quickly to diffuse the situation.

The woman wearing the anti-CSG t-shirt was arrested by two officers and put in the back of a marked police four-wheel drive.

The Easter Bunny was detained, unmasked and searched by officers.

Mr George said he did not want to comment on that specific incident.

"This is part of an ongoing targeted campaign against me during this election," he said.

Police are yet to confirm if the Easter Bunny and her companion were charged.
