Ducks win under-19 title 4-1
WORKERS Mighty Ducks and Dodgers Flyers pushed themselves to the limits in a hard-fought Far North Coast under-19 softball grand final.
Mighty Ducks scored three runs in the last innings to win a thriller 4-1.
Pitchers Laura Coulter (Workers) and Hayden Watt (Dodgers) went head-to-head with seven strike-outs each despite the soggy conditions.
Mighty Ducks scored first in the top of the second innings when Nicole Green brought in Coulter with a hit to right field.
Flyers hit back in the third to level when Nick Winkler-Moloney slammed a massive hit to centrefield, then was brought home by a hit from Watt.
Mighty Ducks clinched the premiership in the last innings with Ashleigh Knight, Laura Knight and Samantha Green all clearing the infield.

Exceptional fielding plays from shortstops Ben Wilton (Wobahs) and Jordan Lampard (Dodgers) and first base Brook Coulter (Wobahs) and Wes Lampard (Dodgers) kept both teams scoreless in the third and fourth innings.
In the final innings, Dodgers' Carlee Winkler-Harding and Jordan Lampard scored two runners but it was all too late and Wobahs prevailed.
Dodgers Allstars outclassed Cardinals 10-6 in the Under 14 grand final.
Consistent batting by Dodgers' Flynn Northfield, Samantha Dransfield, Ethan Elliott and Taliesin O'Meara was the key to the win.
Cardinals were still in it when they trailed 6-5 at the bottom of the second innings with Tom Connellan, Lachlan Allen and Jackson Robinson attacking the ball.
However, Dodgers fielders Jed Doolan (shortstop) and Sarah Hoffman (third base) crushed Cardinals' hopes in the last two digs with some sharp fielding.
