Rain causes traffic chaos

A WOMAN escaped with minor injuries after her car slid off the road and into a tree at Eltham yesterday.

About 9.15am a car travelling westbound on Eltham Rd near Teven, veered off the road.

The black hatchback slid down an embankment and into a tree.

A 31-year-old woman was transported to Lismore Base Hospital with minor injuries.

Richmond Local Area Command duty officer Inspector Mick Dempsey said the woman was discharged from hospital yesterday.

NSW Ambulance and Rural Fire Service also attended.

Later in the day the wet weather continued to cause havoc on the region's roads with a two-car crash at Goonellabah.

Just before 6pm, peak-hour traffic slowed to a crawl on Ballina Rd when the two cars collided near the intersection with Clifford Pl.

The driver of one vehicle was uninjured and three occupants in the other vehicle were treated by paramedics for lacerations.
