Driver and passenger charged in Nimbin Rd crash

THE driver of a car and his passenger who were involved in a crash on Nimbin Rd at Boerie Creek yesterday have been charged with drink driving and drug offences.

About noon police police were called to Nimbin Rd following reports of a vehicle in a ditch.

When officers arrived they noticed the vehicle was undamaged, but the driver couldn't get out of his car.

Police breath tested the 54-year-old driver, which proved positive, and he was arrested for a breath analysis.

The passenger, who was seen stumbling along the road, was stopped and while police were speaking to him, they noticed a bulge in his sock.

The 53-year-old man was asked about the bulge and he allegedly pulled out a bag of cannabis.

He was charged with possessing a prohibited drug.

Following a breath analysis at Lismore police station the driver was charged with mid-range drink driving.
