Ballina Dragons to celebrate first birthday victorious

BALLINA Dragons Boat Racing Club is soon to have its first birthday.

Spokeswoman Shelley Cornish said they'd had an "amazing run of wins in regattas we have participated in".

Ballina Dragons compete against clubs from Sydney to the Queensland border.

Dragon Boating is an international sport that extends from local regions to state, national and even international level.

"Our latest win saw us take out the grand final at the Shaws Bay regatta run by Lennox Head Rainbow Dragons," Cornish said.

"Our club fosters a culture of fun, fitness and friendships. It's a sport that suits any age and newcomers are very welcome to come and have a go."

They train on Monday and Thursday evenings at 5.30 to 6.30pm and Saturday mornings from 7.30 to 9am.

Ballina Dragons are sponsored by Cherry Street Bowling Club and also Haymans Electrical Ballina.
