Donald Trump praises North Korean dictator for ruthlessness

US Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump has managed to trump himself, using a speech to praise despotic North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un.

In a speech saying the US should sanction China unless it reigned in the North Korean regime, Mr Trump praised the dictator for his ruthlessness in dispatching with political opponents.

"If you look at North Korea, this guy - I mean, he's like a maniac, ok, and you gotta give him credit," Mr Trump was quoted saying by the Brisbane times.

"How many young guys - he was like 26 or 25 when his father died - take over these tough generals? You know, it's pretty amazing when you think about it. How does he do that?

"He goes in, he takes over and he's the boss. It's incredible.

"He wiped out the uncle, he wiped out this one, that one - I mean, this guy doesn't play games and we can't play games with him. Because he really does have missiles and he really does have nukes."

The comments come after a Muslim woman wearing a t-shirt emblazoned with "Salam, I come in peace" was booed and forcibly ejected from one of Mr Trump's rally.

It also comes after he questioned the citizenship of Republican rival Senator Ted Cruz and after actor Samuel L Jackson accused Mr Trump of cheating at golf.
