Don a daggy shirt in Ballina for Chicky

THE second annual daggy shirt walk in memory of the late Helen "Chicky" Poulos will be held on Saturday, starting from Ballina's Lighthouse Beach.

The walk has been organised by Jenny Seymour and other friends of Chicky, a former Ballina High School teacher who loved to walk and was a member of the walking group The Ballina Babblers.

And she loved daggy shirts, hence the theme.

"It's two years since we tragically lost our wonderful friend," Jenny Seymour said.

"She was a great community person, always doing things for others, like donating blood, serving Meals on Wheels, caring for the elderly and involved with Landcare.

"Last year we celebrated our Ballina legend by having a walk along her favourite path - Ballina's North Wall - as well as a few of the other cycleways."

The walk will start at 8am, with registration from 7am.

The cost is $10 for adults and a gold coin donation for children. Proceeds will be donated to the Ballina Lighthouse and Lismore Surf Life Saving Club.
