Dolphin Awards rock Lismore
THE 22nd annual Dolphin Awards rocked out Lismore's Star Court Theatre, last night, with artists like The Mid North and Parissa Bouas walking away with top gongs.
The biggest night in the local music and entertainment industry certainly lived up to expectations as the most coveted event from the North Coast Entertainment Industry Association.
The two big gongs were taken out by Byron Bay singer-songwriter Parissa Bouas for Song of the Year with her tune Sad Eyes, and Bellingen bluegrass/Americana band The Mid North for Album of the Year with their record You Were Right About the Stars. The Mid North also took out the Country gong, and Parissa Bouas, the Jazz category.
Northern Star part-time journo, full-time roots and rock musician Paul Appelkamp received a gong for Production and Engineering, while 15-year-old Richmond River High School student Serinna McGrath won the Youth category.
It was also a great night for Andrea Soler, who won the top awards in both Female Vocal and Adult Contemporary Singer Songwriter.
North Coast Entertainment Industry Association president Gary Pinkerton said he was delighted that local radio stations had begun playing the music of some of the finalists in the lead-up to the Dolphins.
