THERE are many ways to celebrate Australia Day.

Our official national day marks the anniversary of the 1788 arrival of the First Fleet of British Ships at Sydney Cove, New South Wales, and the raising of the British flag by Governor Arthur Phillip.

However, these days, celebrations tend to reflect the diverse society and landscape of the nation of people who embrace cultural and lifestyle diversity.

For many, Australia Day is the day to acknowledge everything we love about this country. And for those who live on the Sunshine Coast, it's a chance to share those things that mean a lot to us with others, such as freedom, friendships, fun and four-legged friends.

Here's how a group of Sunshine Coast friends celebrated Australia Day yesterday in Buderim. There were 32 people and 26 dogs.
