Dog attacks on Northern Rivers

IT is understood a 30-year-old pregnant woman from Byron Bay was attacked in front of her Bangalow Road home by an unrestrained dog on Tuesday.

The woman was allegedly attacked while trying to rescue her cat from the dog's jaws, and reportedly suffered serious puncture wounds to her arms and hands and was taken to Byron Hospital also suffering from shock.

It is believed local residents restrained the dog until a Byron Shire Ranger arrived and took the dog into custody.

There is also a report a girl was attacked by a dog at South Ballina this morning.

No further information is available at this time.
