Craske dobbed in for child porn

WOODBURN man Robert Craske has pleaded guilty in Lismore Local Court to having hundreds of child pornography images downloaded from the Internet.

Craske, 36, was charged after the offensive images were found by a Lismore computer technician while carrying out repairs on the computer and alerted police.

Craske told police he was having problems with the computer and during Internet use would experience exposure to offensive websites via ‘pop ups’ that would happen four or five times on every use. However, he admitted to using a free porn site that he described as a dodgy website.

Craske stated some images were offensive to him as they were not to his taste.

The police State Electronic Evidence Branch formally analysed the images and confirmed a large number as offensive images depicting females considered to be aged under 16. About 1915 images selected from Craske’s computer were deemed as being offensive and considered by police to be child pornography.

The images were categorised using the COPINE scale – Combating Paedophile Information Networks in Europe Centre – using 10 categories from level one, the most benign, to level 10, the most explicit.

This included 957 images found to be level 5, children in erotic poses; 281 images classified level 6, explicit erotic posing; 78 images classified level seven, explicit sexual activity; 18 images classified level eight, children subject to sexual assault; 30 images classified level nine, gross assault, depicting grossly abusive images involving a child and adult; and 17 images classified level 10, sadistic or bestiality.

Police facts stated there were in excess of 800 separate females depicted in the images, along with a series of images depicting females posed in a sexualised manner.

The images also included some of females depicted in cartoon or drawn pictures police considered to be very young, depicting females engaging in sexual activity.

Craske was arrested on warrant on October 18 after returning from a holiday in Thailand. The warrant was issued when he failed to attend court in August. He will be sentenced on January 28.
