IF you have a burning desire to keep Northern Rivers roads safe, applications are open for the perfect job for you based in Lismore- a mobile speed camera operator.

Jenoptik Traffic Solutions has advertised for casual mobile speed camera operators on the website seek.com.au.

"You will travel to sites and set up vehicle-mounted road-side speed camera equipment, in line with safety, technical and contractual guidelines; operate the equipment via an in-car tablet computer, and maintain the vehicle and equipment in a safe and professional manner at all times," the advertisement states.

To apply for the positions applicants must have a current 'clean' and unrestricted NSW driver licence, and be willing to complete a driver's licence driving history check.

Applicants with an adverse driving history will not be eligible for the position.

You also must be able to successfully complete a rigorous pre-employment functional medical assessment including drug and alcohol screening, vision, and psychometric testing, pass an Australian Federal Police check, attend and successfully complete a two week full-time training program in Newcastle and be available to start training in late May.

Applicants must be able to work alone and unsupervised and be available to work a 24/7 roster with variable shifts.

A reasonable computer and technical capability, a strong attention to detail and accuracy and conflict resolution skills are desired.
