SCUBA divers are going to extreme lengths to set a new world record today.
More than two hundred divers will converge on the Stail wreck off the coast of Eilat, Israel in the hopes of setting a new Guinness world record for the largest audience for a live-streamed underwater event.
Organisers need half a million viewers to tune in to the live stream for the mission to succeed.
The live HD broadcast will use the latest in satellite link technology and require precise coordination between 26 diving instructors, 32 production members and 12 professional photographers documenting the world record attempt.
The event, called Storm in the Sea, will be broadcast from 6pm AEST today on YouTube.
