Disability services plan disrupted

BALLINA mayor Phillip Silver has urged a disability service organisation not to "abandon" its plans for a new facility in the town after the council rejected its application last week.

Northcott Disability Services had lodged plans for a transitional group home and educational facility at a property it owns in Cawarra St, Ballina.

But councillors last week voted against the facility, saying it would not fit in with the residential nature of the cul-de-sac.

Cr Silver called on Northcott staff to speak with council staff about other possible locations.
