Dirt-bike boys to take on NZ's best

TWO of the Northern Rivers' up-and-coming dirt-bike riders head off across the ditch on Saturday to take part in the Woodville Honda Grand Prix.

KTM will supply 85cc machines for Bailey Davis of Kyogle and Bexhill's Brody Roberson for the event on Saturday week.

The meet at Woodville, 1½ hours north of Wellington, is rated only behind the national titles on the Kiwi dirt-bike calendar.

Bailey, 13, and Brody, 12, are old hands on the dirt-bike circuit, having contested the North Coast and South-East Queensland series.

With several years experience eating other riders' dust, the duo are intenton making their mark in New Zealand.

"It will be good experience for the boys," Brody's dad Dale Roberson said.

"We've done a lot of Aussie and North Coast events."

Both boys will ride in the 85cc class in the 12-14 years division.

"There's a shop near Wellington that is supplying the bikes and all we have to take is our plastics and suspension," Dale Roberson said.

"The two boys will ride second-hand bikes ... we don't have to worry about carting them (their bikes) over.

"As soon as we come back we have four days and we're straight into the North Coast series."
