A NEW boutique featuring unique, handmade clothing and the atmosphere of a French boudoir is like a little oasis in South Lismore, according to owner and designer Jeht Burgoyne.
Flourish Designs opened in South Lismore in October and has been recording a great number of sales since.
As a trained visual artist, Ms Burgoyne said clothing was her form of creativity.
She creates up to 30 designs a week, with all pieces made right there in her studio, which is attached to the store.
"I make what I feel like making, or what I'm inspired to make," she said.
"I like to keep it fresh and alive.
"(My clothing) is for the ladies who want something not hippy, but arty - it's very bohemian."
"(The style is) very individual, very different. There's lots of hand-dyed, lacy and embellished (pieces) - it's very North Coast."
A great feature of some of her designs is a special style of dyeing she has perfected over the past 20 years.
"You'll find that in other designs the dye will run, but in mine the dye stays in the garment forever," she said.
Ms Burgoyne said the boutique had a wide range of customers, from singers and performers looking for an outfit for a show to mothers of the bride looking for a wedding outfit.
In addition to clothing, the store features artwork, homewares and jewellery.
Ms Burgoyne said she loved her little spot in South Lismore as the area was gathering an "awesome vibe".
"It's nice to see these little places popping up around South Lismore.
"It's kind of becoming the Soho of Lismore."
Ms Burgoyne said Flourish would soon become a creative learning space where artists could teach and share their skills in such things as felting, jewellery making, fabric printing, gilding and dressmaking.
Classes will be held in the evenings and weekends starting in February.
Flourish Designs is at 15 Casino St, South Lismore.
