Little room for thieves with security systems in demand

SMILE, because chances are, you're on camera.

As technology advances so do our security systems.

According to Trev's Security business development manager Tony Schuh, Gladstone takes security seriously.

"Comparing an old very slow analogue security camera to a new modern one is just like cheese and chalk," he said.

"Security improves all the time and Gladstone has kept up with the rest of the state - if anything, in front." Mr Schuh said.

Mr Schuh said about 65% of their cameras installed would be for industrial areas, while 30% were used by retailers.

CEO of Identify Labour and Training, Sam Stewart said they focussed more on industrial security too.

He said industrial businesses had a need for good security due to the hefty expenses of equipment at risk of being stolen, compared to the stock in a retail store.

Chubb Security project manager Nathan Brown said an increase in population consequently should increase businesses' need for a quality alarm system.

Technology advances had improved what would have previously been regarded as basic security.

Now they can catch even the smallest of pests.

"Security alarms now have detectors with built-in cameras which take images when the alarm is set off, that way the owner knows if it is a false alarm caused by a gecko or a possum."

Gladstone has left little room for thieves; Mr Brown said every business in Goondoon St would have a security alarm at least.
