ON Monday evening we did a call-out for photos on our Facebook page and were almost immediately swamped with dozens of fantastic images.

>> VOTE FOR TOMORROW'S PHOTO OF THE DAY

Among them was this incredible shot by Jade King of Jade Coral Photography of lightning over Evans Head, taken from the Evans Head lookout, which proved a clear favourite in yesterday's poll, earning 32% of the vote.

The number of images posted to the page on Monday was enormous, and we'll be putting them up in our regular Photo of the Day polls across the next few days.

All will end up posted to our website in our daily Photo of the Day submissions galleries, along with our regular Photo of the Day submissions.

Photo of the Day celebrates the beauty of the Northern Rivers and the talent of the region's photographers.

As well as appearing here, it is published on Page 2 of The Northern Star, is used as the cover image on our Facebook page and appears as part of an expanding gallery of images, which you can see below.

To submit an image for Photo of the Day, simply share it to our Facebook page

Onto tomorrow's photo and we have another big field of images to choose from as we continue to work through the submissions from Monday's call out. There are some brilliant images in here and it's going to be a tough job deciding which is best.

Have a look in the poll below and pick your favourite. You can see full-size versions of the images in this gallery or by hitting the gallery link above the thumbnails. Voting closes at noon.
