Defence minister hosts trivia night

IT WASN'T your typical pub trivia night.

Federal Defence Minister John Faulkner was the unlikely host for a community fundraiser at Coraki Golf Club on Saturday night, and he had taken time out of managing and directing Australia's defence forces to develop a 90-question trivia quiz for the occasion.

“I was talking to the Canadian minister for defence this morning and I thought I'd throw a few (Canadian questions) in,” he said before the quiz kicked off.

Senator Faulkner has a passion for trivia and, at the invitation of one of his senior advisors and Coraki local, George Thompson, had agreed to host the evening.

Mr Thompson's wife, Melva, was pleased the evening raised around $3000 for the Coraki Tea Tree Art Prize.

The art prize committee is now accepting entries and the exhibition will be held at the end of October.
