Dead roo left to cook on a public barbecue

VICTORIAN Police are investigating after a kangaroo and a rabbit were located dead in Diamond Creek this morning.

Police received reports of a decapitated kangaroo at a picnic area to the side of the Diamond Creek Walking Trail about 8.20am.

On arrival, police located the head of the kangaroo on a barbecue plate, while the body was located about 60m away.

A skinned rabbit was also located in the adjacent children's playground, near the intersection of Campbell and Watkins Streets.

Diamond Creek police are investigating and would like to hear from anyone who has used the track from yesterday evening to this morning and whether they saw the dead animals there at the time.
