The Northern Star's Leah White wins Dance for Cancer
TWELVE novice dancers and their dance partners took to the stage of Lismore Workers Club for the Stars of Lismore Dance for Cancer.
There was a lot of fun to be had, and a whole lot of entertainment.
Some of the best moments were a fabulous flash mob performance to kick off the night, Lismore mayor Jenny Dowell rocking the stage in sequins, leather-look tights and a blonde wig for her tap routine, a comedic ballet routine from Adam Beger of Goonellabah Tavern, a jaw dropping pole dancing routine from Lismore City Centre Manager Jason Mumford, high kicks, jazz splits and cartwheels from Garth Brown of St Vincent's Private Hospital, a stylish belly dancing routine from Jessica Daley of ZZZ FM, and a grooving rock and roll routine from local police officer, Laleynya Ryan.
However, it was our own Leah White and her dance partner Serena Joy from Arte Gitana who wowed the judge's to take out the Judges Choice Award.
Garth Brown from St Vincent's Private Hospital raised the most funds, $13,500, as well as taking out the People's Choice Award with dance partner Angela Reid from Sharp Dance.
The event announced a provisional fundraising total of $75,000 at the end of the night.
