Dalby twins pull out surprise win on House Rules

DARLING Downs twins Luke and Cody Cook surprised everyone, including themselves, by winning the first week of Seven's reality renovation show House Rules.

The brothers struggled to navigate their way through homeowners Fil and Joe's house rules, as well as Melbourne's busy streets, but were quick learners.

They impressed the homeowners and judges with their transformations of the master bedroom ensuite, Fil and Joe's son Jayden's bedroom and an adjoining deck.

"I've never seen anything this damn good for a first reno," judge Joe Snell said on the show last night.

Western Australian Navy parents Rose and Rob finished in second place following a heated week which saw Rob go to war with Brooke and Michelle over where to put their linen cupboard in his grand entry.

Victorian hairdresser and plumber Claire and Hagan locked horns with each other and it showed in their scores.

The homeowners had asked for a five-star wet room but they delivered a "five-star stuff up" according to Snell, who said their decision to divide the bathroom with a wall was a mistake.

"It meant half your bathroom was really dark," he said.

"I just don't know what you were thinking."

The teams will now head to South Australia to transform Brooke and Michelle's trackside bungalow into a dream home.
