Customs officers seize drugs in Sydney
CUSTOMS officers seized almost 20kg of precursor drugs in Sydney last week.
The seizures included 6.1kg of pseudoephedrine and 12.6kg of ContacNT, taken from seven parcels travelling from China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Papua New Guinea and Vietnam.
ContacNT is a cold and flu medication in some international markets and contains high levels of pseudoephedrine, a precursor substance which is used to manufacture amphetamine-type substances, including methamphetamine, commonly known as ice.
The drugs were concealed in household dusters, the sides of cardboard boxes, hair shampoos, curtain rods and water pumps.
