Cuskelly falls short in New York

FORMER Evans Head squash player Ryan Cuskelly has fallen agonisignly short of winning the Pyramid International tournament in New York overnight.

Cuskelly fell to top seed Anwar Reda from Egypt in a marathon 80-minute match, 9-11 11-5 11-8 11-8.

It was only the second such meeting bewteen the pair, with Reda now having a 2-0 record against the Australian.

Their previous meeting was in the final of the St Louis Invitational in January last year, with Reda winning that match in four games.

Cuskelly’s performances has improved markedly in recent times and he has enjoyed a rise up the international ranks.

Cuskelly has several tournaments in North America this year.
